Champaign County is renowned for its vibrant 4th of July celebrations, and 2024 is set to be no exception. With a plethora of events spanning the week leading up to Independence Day, residents and visitors alike will find no shortage of festivities to partake in. Here’s a more comprehensive look at what you can expect during this exciting time.

Villa Grove Freedom Celebration

Kick off the celebrations early on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Villa Grove Richman Park. From 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, enjoy an evening filled with family fun and a fireworks display at dusk that promises to dazzle.

Tolono Fun Days

The fun continues on Saturday, June 29, 2024, with Tolono Fun Days at West Side Park. This all-day event features food vendors, a beer pavilion, and activities like Xtreme Air, Zipline, and Rock Climbing Wall. The evening will conclude with an outdoor family movie starting at 9 pm.

Gifford Community Celebration

On the same day, head over to Werner Roessler Park in Gifford for a day-long celebration from 7:00 am to 9:30 pm. Enjoy a parade, food trucks, yard games, and a spectacular fireworks display to cap off the night.

Arthur Freedom Celebration

Also on June 29, Jurgens Park in Arthur will host its Freedom Celebration from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Don’t miss the parade at 2 pm and one of the area’s most impressive fireworks displays at dusk.

Thunder Over Lake Vermilion

For a unique experience, join the 4th of July Party and Fireworks Celebration at Danville Boat Club from 5:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Open to the public, this event offers food for purchase and a stunning fireworks show to enjoy.

Arcola Fourth of July Fireworks Display

On Sunday, June 30, 2024, the Best Western Plus Green Mill Village Hotel & Suites Convention Center in Arcola will light up the sky with its fireworks display. A perfect event for those who want to extend their 4th of July festivities.

As we approach the actual day of Independence Day, Champaign County’s 75th July 4th event will feature the traditional and much-anticipated 5K run/walk, parade, and fireworks. The day’s events will begin with the Youth Run at 8:30 am, followed by the 5K at 9:05 am, and the parade at 11:05 am. The evening will be filled with musical entertainment starting at 7 pm near First/Oak Streets.

To wrap up the day, the fireworks display will commence at 9:15 pm, illuminating the night sky with colors and patterns that celebrate the nation’s history and the community’s spirit.
